Faith in Action
Faith In Action awarded the Piedmont Emergency Relief Center a $35,000 grant for a 30-month term to start the Faith In Action of the Piedmont Emergency Relief Center program in August 2005.
Faith In Action is the largest program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the largest healthcare foundation in the nation. Faith In Action is an initiative to bring together volunteers from many faiths to work together to care for their neighbors who have long-term health needs. It provides start up funds to formalize and to coordinate care-giving efforts. It recognizes that faith-based efforts need expertise to sustain volunteer efforts.
Clients include frail elderly, the infirm, and the disabled.
Faith In Action of the Piedmont Emergency Relief Center will take the food pantry, food stamp referral, Angel Food Ministries, Adopt-A-Box, information and referral programs of PERC into the homes of those who cannot come to PERC's office.
Additionally, Faith In Action of PERC volunteers will help with light housekeeping, maintenance around and outside the home, and keep in close contact with clients.
