Piedmont Emergency Relief Center

About PERC

Piedmont Emergency Relief Center provides help to people and enables them to find the resources they need to survive and to eventually prosper. PERC serves families encompassed in the zip code areas: 29673, 29669, 29611, 29697. These zip code areas encompass 80,000 people.

PERC is not here for handouts, rather we provide a hand up to our families in need. PERC can help our families find medical care, prescription drugs, career counseling, and other forms of assistance. We have referral information for agencies in Anderson, Greenville and Pickens counties.

Among other services, PERC maintains a food pantry and will help families by providing a week's supply of food for those in need. Clients are encouraged to apply for the DSS Food Stamp program. We can provide assistance with filling out forms. Those clients who do apply for DSS assistance are eligible to apply to PERC for food assistance 5 more times per year. PERC encourages clients to purchase an Angel Food Ministries box to maximize their food stamp purchasing power.

PERC also has an Adopt-a-Box Program so families not qualifying for food stamps, but are unable to afford to adequately feed their families, can get an Angel Food Ministries box. Sunday school classes, clubs, groups and individuals can help us by adopting a box for these families.

Our Faith In Action of Piedmont Emergency Relief Center takes all the services listed above into the homes of the frail elderly, infirm, and disabled. Our volunteers can provde other services such as light housekeeping, small home repair and maintenance, etc. They will also call once a week to check on our clients and to provide for other needs.

Soon, PERC hopes to provide the space and the infrastructure for other government and other non-profit agencies to provide their services in the greater Piedmont area. We do not want to reinvent the wheel by duplicating services already in place. Our mission is to make sure that these wheels roll closer to our families in the greater Piedmont area.
